Introduction To Microcomputer Usage
PRESENTATION PROJECT
In this project, you will work in groups of either four or five to conduct research on a particular topic of interest. You will then create two documents:
-
Microsoft Word Document
-
Microsoft Power Point Slide Show
You will present the topic to the class, discuss your findings, and give your group's stance on a particular issue (see the requirements below).
Requirements:
Choose a topic of your liking. However, your topic has to cover one issue of the importance that relates to today's teenagers and/or our society as a whole. The issue may include, but is not limited to:
-
sexual harassment,
-
drug use,
-
steroids in sports,
-
violence (tv, video games...),
-
stereotype in advertising,
-
racism,
-
our dependency on foreign oil and what does that imply for our future (economy) and car industry,
-
global warming,
-
unaffordable education...
If you have an idea for some other issue you would like to address, please see me first, and we can discuss it.
Create a Word document that will consist of:
-
minimum 2 pages per group member - 1.5 spaced
-
cover page that will include your topic, school name, names of the students in your group, class, section number, date, and my name.
-
works cited page that will contain at least 2 references per group member - Internet links or literature that you have used to extract information for your project.
Create a Power Point slide show consisting of:
-
4 slides per group member
-
your slides must not contain more than 7 fragments outlining the main idea and supporting facts of the idea (no paragraphs in slides please)
-
a title slide, containing your topic and 'presented by' section featuring the names of the group members
-
references slide that will be the very last slide, and which will contain the links you used in your research.
Present your topic to your fellow classmates. Each member of the group must be a part of presentation, and therefore must speak out!
Project Guidelines:
-
Figure out your project topic
choose a topic that interests you
choose a topic that you can understand
choose a topic that is not too complicated
-
Make a plan for your project and do the research
assign individual tasks for each member of your group
use search engines such as Google to find information
learn as much as you can about the subject
-
Create a Word document
narrow down your findings into specific and substantial information
make sure your ideas follow nicely - do not jump from one issue to another without using transitions (however, therefore...)
-
Create a Power Point presentation
based on your Word document, extract individual paragraphs into slides
use fragments, do not copy paragraphs onto your slides
-
Present your topic
practice before you come out to present
do NOT read from the slides (slides are for your audience, not you)
